At Springfield, teaching is understood as a profession that requires continuous learning and reflection. Our commitment to continuous professional development ensures that teachers have opportunities to reflect on their practice, engage with emerging ideas and deepen their understanding of how students learn.
The Professional Development Course — Session 2026, conducted in August 2026, brought teachers together for a programme of focused learning and professional reflection. Among the themes explored were Artificial Intelligence, critical thinking among students, the importance of repetition and concept of neuroplasticity, and the positioning and role of teachers within the classroom.
The sessions considered how contemporary knowledge about learning can inform everyday classroom practice. Teachers explored ways of encouraging deeper thinking, strengthening retention and using technology thoughtfully, while reflecting on the teacher’s role in creating classrooms in which students are active participants in their own learning.
