Two of our senior students, Nehal, Grade 9, and Rehan, O Level-III, took part in a three-day workshop at the Institute of Space Technology (IST), Islamabad, from 11 to 13 July 2026.
The workshop offered students an opportunity to encounter science and technology through direct experience. They watched an inspiring film about astronauts and observed detailed images of the Sun in a laboratory, gaining a closer appreciation of the scale and complexity of the subjects they encounter in the classroom.
Their learning extended into aeronautics and aerodynamics, where they explored the principles of flight and the design and construction of a plane body. They also had the opportunity to explore working laboratories and encounter scientific equipment and environments first-hand.
For Nehal and Rehan, the experience provided a different way of learning: not simply reading about scientific ideas, but seeing, questioning and experiencing them in practice. Opportunities such as these encourage students to connect academic knowledge with the wider world and to consider where their curiosity might lead.
At Springfield, we value experiences that allow students to step beyond the classroom and encounter knowledge in new settings. The aim is not simply to show students what science can do, but to encourage them to ask where they might take it themselves.
